State Member of Carrum District and State Schools’ Relief ambassador Sonya Kilkenny recently visited State Schools’ Relief.
Ms Kilkenny took a tour of the State Schools’ Relief residence and saw first hand the operations of the organisation, including the clothing donations specifically to help clothe asylum seekers.
Ms Kilkenny has been appointed by the Deputy Premier and the Education Minister as the ambassador of State Schools’ Relief.
Through a donation from the Victorian State Schools Spectacular, State Schools’ Relief have been clothing newly arrived asylum seekers with jumpers and t-shirts left over from the popular event. The quality clothing now have an extended lifeline and will assist in relieving some of the financial pressure for newly arrived asylum seekers.
The 2016 Victorian State Schools Spectacular will be performed twice (1:00pm and 6:30pm) on Saturday 10 September at Hisense Arena. Tickets will soon be released through Ticketek.
