It's not just a pair of shoes...
When SSRC provides new shoes and a uniform to a child
experiencing extreme disadvantage it does much more than you might
think.
A new pair of shoes to a child without them can:
- increase self esteem and dignity (not just for the child, but
for their families as well)
- provide warmth and comfort
- enable participation in school and community activities
- alleviate financial burden for families
- avoid the stigma of "looking poor" or being different to their
classmates
- improve school attendance rates
A donation to SSRC is direct, tangible
support towards the education of young Victorians. Right
now we need all the help we can get to make sure families are
supported during the tough times and children have access to
opportunity.
How will your donation be spent?
Each year we assist over 7000 students. But we'd like to do
more.
Every year the demand for our service grows. You can
help make sure we are able to help more Victorian children and
young people.
100% of your donation goes toward providing quality clothing and
footwear to disadvantaged students in Victoria.
Not one cent of your donation will go towards supporting the
organisation's administration needs. Commendably, the Victorian
Government supports SSR by way of administration funding; as it has
done for the past 80 years.
Donations over $2 are fully tax deductible under the Australian
Income Tax Act.
Participation in education is the main pathway out of
poverty. That pathway must remain open to every child.
Your contribution will make a great difference. Even a small
donation will go a very long way.
Thank you for your support of Victorian students.
