Participation in education
In the past year we have assisted upwards of 8000 Victorian
primary and secondary students - removing barriers to their
participation in school and supporting their success in
education.
We received numerous letters of appreciation including this

Luke has proudly worn his new uniform to school each day.
It's really nice to see him in a good fitting, decent pair of
shoes. If you have ever worn a pair of uncomfortable shoes for just
a few hours you might have a small insight into what this little
boy experienced every single day. It makes all the difference to
have the right gear. He's so much happier. Read more Real Stories
Each of the students we have supported will be positively and,
in some cases, deeply affected by the simple fact that they are
comfortably and properly attired.
We know from many years of experience that supporting children
will always have a positive impact on their families - so at least
two other people will benefit from our help.
Supporting Victorian families during the hard times
With mortgage rates, rising unemployment and other financial
pressures, even families who would not previously have needed
assistance are finding they struggle to meet the most basic costs
towards education and these issues are on the rise.
A 15 - 20% increase in applications for support to SSRC is
anticipated over the coming year, in line with recent trends.
Expanding our reach
We are doing all we can to expand our support of students and
their families.
SSR is uniquely positioned to extend the work in which we are
already so experienced while also using our networks to identify
issues and develop prompt responses.
The Victorian Bushfires illustrated how an established
organisation like SSR with close connection to schools communities
was positioned to identify and address needs so that timely
responses could occur.
During and after those tragic events, SSRC provided a rallying
point for the community by being a visible and reputable community
organisation to which donations could be made in the secure
knowledge they would be well utilised.
As a trusted and established organisation, the community
recognised SSRC's ability to work effectively at the heart of
affected communities.
